Title: 180's Club
Post by: alligatorob on September 04, 2024, 09:27:20 PM
I've been stuck in the 180s for a long time now, hoping to make it out...  181 now, so if I can control the binge it could be soon.

Thanks for starting a 180s club!  I am at 188.5 this morning, so I'll probably be vacillating between your club and Stuck's club for a bit.  I think doing a body/mind check in a few times a day is really helping me with not feeling like snacking lately.  I hope it goes really well with finding ways to get around binging, Rob!

Haven't seen an update for rob. hopefully he will be able to kick off a 170s club soon.

I can't post here for a little while yet.  We went to a really good cafeteria full of good southern comfort food the other day, and it bumped me right back up into the 190's again.  I have to take it easy this week and get back down here!

189.5 today.  I need to take it easy on the shrimp bisque I just made.  Lots of veggies in it, but also whipping cream and pumpkin based!

187.4 this morning.  I haven't been eating a lot with this cold, but at least there's an upside - 2 lbs down.

188.9 this morning.  I looked on a BMI calculator and I am at 27.9, so in the overweight category instead of obese now!  So happy about that.  And it feels like my arms and legs are getting strong again, so I'm feeling pretty good.

187.7 today even with all the silly juice!  I ate a very small piece of cake yesterday and it was enough to bring back my sore throat because sugar crashes my immune system.  No more of that!

Marsia sorry to hear about your sore throat. I didnt know sugar could do that. something to keep in mind with the flu going around.

Andrew, I think it's just me.  I didn't even like sugar growing up as a kid.  (I was super skinny back then!)

weight for me has gone up. its now 188 rather than 187.  I hope I dont bump myself back up to the 190s. It's unnerving  seeing my weight go up and up again. Im not sure what's causing it to rise. think its to many WAG with my dinners.

Andrew, my weight naturally fluctuates a couple of pounds up and down, and I try to just keep the general trend going down.  188.9 this morning.  I am back to weight loss again finally after battling that cold forever.

That's great that your over your cold.  Hopefully that counts as your winter cold and you are done with colds for the rest of the year. That's what I have to do than keep the general trend going down.

197.8 for me today. pasta tonight so may lose it tomorrow.

im bouncing between 185 and 186.. just 5 more pounds and I can go to the 170s club. This club doesn't seem very active. Maybe im the only one fighting to get out of the 180s.

My memory is notoriously bad but I will try. If you have been sick I wouldn't be surprised if you popped into the 170s.  If you do dont forget to create a 170s thread. I will help decorate things if I ever get into there.

sounds good! I was actually able to squeeze into my size 32 jeans. so I made that goal.  I didn't even have to do that thing my mother did as a kid where she laid down on the bed and pulled up her fly of her jeans with a pair of pliers. weight today was 182.

That made me laugh.  I wonder if you need pliers to get your jeans on, what you do when you have to use the rest room in a public place though!  Glad you fit in size 32 now.  That's awesome!!

lol im not sure I will have to ask my mom about the bathroom you mentioned. Im curious now what she would say.My mom grew up in an orphanage and when she was adopted they didn't have much money. everything she owned was second hand so she had to make do with what she got even if they were not the right size.

I was really happy about fitting in to a size 32.  At one point my weight was 230 lbs and I was wearing a size 38 and they were getting tight. a couple weeks ago I bought 4 pairs of size 34 when I found out I could fit into them. Im not going to go and buy a bunch of 32s just yet. maybe if I lose another 15 pounds.

Oh, wow, that must have been so hard for your mom.  I'm doing the same thing with waiting until I stabilize at my goal weight to buy new clothes.  I'm fine with wearing baggy clothes.  They are comfy!

My first goal weight is 170, and then I'll see if I'd like to go down into the 160s.  When I was younger, I didn't look healthy if I was in the 150s (I'm tall), so I think the lowest is 160s.  What about you?

170/160s is a good goal. My first goal is 165 than 150. I am short.

Great!  I'm at 184.6, which is good considering that I've been really snack-y and have been eating late at night.  It's hard because I normally work until 6, and it's been really busy, so I come home tired and eat late.  However, I can eat most of my calories in the mornings on those days and be ok.

Not being able to eat until 6 seems like you might be very hungry by then. My tummy starts to rumble around 4. At least if you have a good breakfast you have all day to burn the calories.. It sounds hard to balance your meals because of your job. I guess you just have to work with it the best you can.

Ive read that protein can make you feel full longer. So drinking  a protein shake may help you stay full until 6 when you get out. Maybe eat a good breakfast before you leave than the shake at lunch will help you get by until 6. at least its something on your break so your blood sugar doesn't drop too low and make you feel dizzy and like crap.

180.8 today.  very excited about this so I hope it stays.

My weight was 181 this morning. Now I see why people dont weigh every day. it can drive you crazy. I haven't seen Rob around I wonder what his weight is now. I hope he is doing ok.

Rob tends to disappear for long periods of time, but I think Cate can contact him outside of the group.  I hope he's doing well.  He's such a great guy!  I was 183.1 this morning.  My weight fluctuates a lot, and I expect that, so I try to just see what it did that week.  There are just so many factors that go into weight loss, and sometimes a gain is a good thing, like if you are feeling famished or if you gained muscle which weighs more.  I think you're doing great!
Title: Re: 180's Club

I think most of the weight I lost was muscle because I still look the same as when I was over 200 lbs. Current weight is 179 pounds. It won't last but it was nice to see it break the 180s for the first time.

I hope it holds too. I think I might be getting too focused on the daily weigh ins. Maybe I will switch to weekly ones instead. At least that way im not cheering or crying  about every pound every day. Maybe I will make Mondays my weigh in. It does after all take a decently long time to be actually losing rather than stuck on a number. it will give me a better idea what the stable weight is.

I ate a bunch of peanut butter today. Hopefully it won't screw up my weight the next few days. My weight seems to jump whenever I eat peanut butter. maybe it's the salt in it? It feels like I dont even have to eat that much to have it affect my weigh in. I wonder if my treadmill will work it off. guess it doesn't hurt to try.

*edit. I need to adjust the belt position on my treadmill. there is no rollers on it I was mistaken. it's one long steel panel underneath the belt. so it couldn't have broke the way I thought it did. it does sound horrible but I think its because the belt is shifted to far to the left and is rubbing the edge..

I really hope you can adjust the belt!!

Thanks Marsia. I didn't have to manually adjust it. I started the treadmill then leaned on my bed at an angle while pushing while walking and it recentered itself. It should stay centered as long as I dont lean while walking. I was leaning with my hand on a doorway to brace myself I think that's what caused it to shift. I hope you are doing OK with your weight loss it's too quiet in the 170s thread. I will dust a chair off at the card table for you if your weight permits. I can certainly hold your spot if it takes a little while.

Hi Andrew!  I'm so glad you could fix the treadmill!  I am 183.9 this morning, so getting back to low weight again.  It may be a little before I join you, but it really helps that we are losing together, and I often don't snack because I remember the 180s club.  So, thanks!!
