Defining Health and Fitness

The World Health Organisation defines health as

Quote
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely absence of disease

One definition of fitness found in a journal article

Quote
Fitness is an ability to execute daily functional activities with optimal performance, endurance, and strength to manage minimalist of disease, fatigue, stress and reduced sedentary behavior.

How do you define fitness ?

That second one is pretty close for me. Fitness is a state in which my body doesn't get in the way of stuff I want to do, whether it's running for the bus, going climbing with my nephews, or lifting a stupidly large box that's in my way.
